Walk
Another short walk to begin with but really short since we had to take Sarah to the bus station within the hour. So we only walked a total of 2 miles the first day then the last mile the second day. Yes we finished up yesterday. John got a promotion at his job and will be working night shifts...so I may walk walk by myself sometimes or not..depends. And this of course this will add another year or so on the schedule of completion.

Montery
Walked around Montery Golf Club today. Didnt realize that all the streets we just walked were pro golfer names like Trevino Cir, Palmer Dr, etc. The Golf club use to be Mountain View Country Club which the sign still stands as noted below.

Going to finish up the NE area hopefully in the next 2 weeks. Started again on Old Mountain Rd and walked that plus Read Mountain Rd. At the end of Read Mtn Rd there was a trail. I wonder where that lead to? I may hike that one day soon. Read Mtn was the border of the County and City as we saw trash cans on one side that said County and the other side was the City. On the way back to the car we saw the storm clouds coming in. We ran for about a .5 mile and as soon as we got back it poured. Lucky us.

Short walk around 2 miles today. Eve and Shane joined us. Shane even walked Eve for a bit. Dillard Rd was a long steeeep walk. And there was a road that was on my list, but it wasnt to be found. Just a closed gate w/ tons of overgrown grass and rubble.

Saw my brother in law while I was waiting on John and Shane. Chatted for a bit. The weather started out really cool in this area (Old Mountain Rd) like it was going to rain but man it got hot! Walked towards the Read Mtn area and entered a really nice neighborhood. Saw some for sale signs and the homes were pretty cheap. Nothing major going on in this walk but we did see some firetrucks around one house but nothing came of it.

Nice walk today. About 4 miles in NW near Hanover area. Saw a lot of storm damage and about 4 roads were closed due to power lines being down. A ton of people were outside on their porches, decks and backyards either hanging w/ friends or playing music. Seems to me, in this area so far, people know how to relax and have a good time. John said he sold his Metroid merchandise!! Everything he had about Metoid is gone! He is no longer a Nintendo gamer or owner. Amazing.

Hot day today especially if there is no shade and when there was it was a relief. Started at Firestone at Crossroads mall passed the new Steak n Shake (still crowded) and headed towards the airport. Shane, or as someone called him on the road "carrot top", joined us again. We walked Thirlane Rd. towards the airport and noticed the road simply morphed into a bike lane. Basically this road is useless for cars for about a 1/4 of a mile. On the way back to the car we passed a small Park which we didnt even know existed! Behold the winner so far for the smallest park in the city!

Headed back down to Orange Ave area in NW today. Headed into Rugby neighborhood. We received a lot of looks in the area. Most people taking second looks. Also saw about 4 cop cars patrolling the area and they were staring as well. Once the cops turned the corner most of the people went back to their "business". Near the end of our walk we saw the awesome gargoyle statues that was guarding the Rugby neighborhood. They look like they belong to a Gothic church. Very neat!

A little cool today while walking. We decided to to walk a area off of Franklin Rd near the Shell gas station today since we are taking our dog, Eve. We came across the "crookedest street" so far, it definitely reminded me of Lombard St. in San Francisco. Pretty nice area and at one point a big pup came over and started playing w/ Eve. She had a nice time too.

KK and I met John over near Happy's flea market today and walked about 4 miles finishing up this one NE section. Only have a little bit more before completing NE entirely. Highlight of this walk was the nice little rest area w/ benches right off of Williamson rd.

Alrighty, our first ever Friday walk (I think). Now we are back near Crossroads malls. Talking about the passing of Jeff Hanneman, who all of you know was the guitarist of SLAYER :) RIP. Nothing unusual to take pictures of today, but I had to take a pic of somthing.
Nice tree |
